Practicing using photoshop

Practicing using photoshop to add texture and colour to our drawings.

Movie

This short movie looks at the route - of the existing "runway" - that the models might walk.

Second Plan, section, elevation and other/perspective.

After looking through examples of more extreme runway layouts i started to think about how i could use the space in a more creative and effective way to create an 'experience'. Then the idea about using the roves and stair ways that were already made in the location came to me. Creating a wooden walkway over the tops of the boat sheds and then we already had a concrete pathway around the buildings anyway. This would mean that the inside of only one of the boat sheds needs to be used, no need to knock any walls out and minimize cost.

Research about runways

After thinking about my plan for a while i decided that i would expand the idea further and literally think outside the box.. so i had a look at OMA's Prada runways for inspiration.

First Plan

Having thought about the meeting between material and the skin, i discovered that it happens in your everyday life, something that most people around the world have in common, its something that connects us together. I thought that a run way was and interesting way to show this meeting for it is looked at with owe and beauty, the meeting is a very treasure experience. This was my initial idea for a floor plan.

Meeting of material and skin.

Examples of when these materials meet skin.

Meeting of material and skin

Some examples of different material; Wool, leather, fleece, lace, silk, duck down, plastic, metal.

Meeting of material and skin

Physical things, reasons why, things to think about.

Plan, section, elevation and perspective.

Plan: Top down view, like a map.

Section: Side view/vertical

Elevation: Exterior of the design as if seen from straight on. Sections without cutting plan. Depicts the surface.

More Blind drawing

Task: Draw what someone is describing to you.

Location drawings

These are drawings of our location - The Boat Sheds - Different perspectives to create a better idea of the environment that we are working within.

Blind drawing

This drawing had to be done without looking at the page once. It surprising how much better it turns out then you think. I think it teaches you to trust yourself in your drawing a lot more than we do.

Inside drawings

These are drawings from the inside of a cafe along Cuba street. I think it is important to practice drawing the inside of a space as this is what we are going to have to design.

Movement

Here we had to show a sense of movement - to draw the cars as they pass by but not to make them static.

Drawing and passing on

These are examples of drawing from our perspective and then handing it on to someone else. We had to draw quickly but make it as accurate as possible.

Drawing on the move

In our second class we started to concentrate on drawing what we see around us and different styles depending on the object. Here we have massey block 12, the back of a house and a view from above. It was interesting to get a sense of drawing on the move.
